I'm coming across lot of my friends looking for buying laptops. And every time they ask me for suggestions, its like me telling the same thing (pardon me if i haven't told anything to you) or i couldn't give them their required information in the way they want it. So even after our discussion, their confusion prevails. So, in order to make it simple and have all the info you need if you're a willing to be potential laptop customer, i'm starting this thread.

Has configurations for good performance ie processor, RAM, etc, good storage ie hard disk, good components ie display, size, etc - All required for good entertainment laptop. To answer ur 1st Q in very simple way:
Entertainment - Watching movies, viewing pictures...
Multimedia - Editing those using more resource intensive applications.
These days, by default, all laptops come with Windows Vista, which atleast needs 2GB of RAM. So, if we need to use those applications, an extra 1GB RAM would be more useful and you could feel the difference when using both these types parallel.
"Getting pastry in Food World" Vs. "Getting pastry in Sweet Chariot" - this is how i would associate those two graphics cards. The following would be the answer to your second question based on its usage and the category under which these GPUs:
The most latest version of IGMA (Intel Graphics Media Accelerators) 4700MHD comes under CLASS3 - "Low-Midrange Graphics Cards" - Lower end of Graphics Cards for users who want to play games. New games should run on these cards, but only with decreased details and mediocre resolution.
The most latest version of NVIDIA GeForce Cards comes under CLASS1 -
"High End Graphics Cards" - These cards are compareable to enthusiasm desktop graphics cards, like the 9800M GT. The cards have a similar core, as their desktop counterparts, but are clocked lower and often have less shader processors. Modern games like Age of Conan, Race Driver Grid, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, or Gothic 3 should run fluently with high details (Crysis should run in medium to high details).
But there are no standard Benchmarks defined for these GPUs. I could find one such attemp at
