HOME FROM HOME: The interior of the McLaren Brand Centre - and remember, this gets moved from each GP to the next.

A MOVEABLE FEAST: In case you didn't believe the McLaren Brand Centre was a temporary structure, here it is going up in the Hockenheim paddock before the 2010 German GP.

Browsers and Beta Versions in my laptop !!!

Posted by redthil On 7/09/2010 12:46:00 AM

I have little hobby of trying out the latest versions of browsers, which are still not released as stable version, which are still in beta version. So, at my home laptop, i always have the latest stable version and the next beta version of lot of browsers... lot of browsers??? yes... each one is used for different purpose and specific purpose only.. so that, i dont have to alter or change any setting for different purpose...  And this is ONLY in my home/personal laptop, definitely not in office laptop... In office laptop, only the very stable and supported version, caz there are lot of dependency on the application and the browser thats supported for it.. but my personal laptop, is the perfect playground for this... Have listed few of them which is there currently in my personal laptop here..

Internet Explorer
I use this only for accessing standard applications, just in case, if i have to access my office application at home, and also, if i have to login as different user to the same website, which i already have cached in other browser. Also, for testing any of the new layout/template/website created for blog or website, etc..

IE 8

IE 9 Preview

FireFox
This is completely used for downloading anything from internet, since all the download manager and other download accelerator stuffs are integrated/configured with this Firefox only. Also, i'm little fan for the Add-Ons available for FireFox. This was my main personal browser, till Chrome was released.

Firefox 3.6

Firefox 4 Beta

Chrome
Though i just didnt like this one, when i was trying this in its very early beta stage, now I'm seriously impressed with this browser. Hence this became my favourite and personal browser. This is the first one i will launch, as soon as the system completes booting.

Chrome 5

Chrome 6 Beta

Flock
I first came to know about this one, when i was searching for some social networking browser, where i can integrate all the social networking sites, into a single sidebar and dont have to go to each sites for getting the latest update. but, later, once i switched to chrome, this became my primary browser for managing the feeds. its really useful in managing and reading all the feeds right from latest news to my friends blog comments.. it indeed is really useful.

Flock 2

Flock 3 Beta

Opera
Well... to tell about why i installed this browser... i seriously have nothing.. i just installed it, for testing or compatability checking of the layout/blog template/websites i create and to check how each action is behaving in this browser.. nothing more than that..

Opera 10.5 Beta

Opera 10.6

One thing if you have noticed with the earlier stable version and the newer beta versions of the browsers are, every browser is trying to move towards the layout which Google Chrome brought in. In addition to that, if you analyse on the technical things, all the new beta versions supports HTML5, CSS3, more security and also faster than the previous version.

Though i have not provided any links for these beta version, if you're really interested in trying out new things, before anyone else even get the chance to see that, just google those beta versions, install it and have fun...

bandh - a perfect opportunity to relax

Posted by redthil On 7/06/2010 10:50:00 AM

This not about whether bandh is good or bad, needed or not, etc etc. But this "National Level Bandh", called by the opposition party, on the fuel price hike, indeed was the time to spend the day at home. I dont remember when was this kind of National Level Bandh before this (may be for the Onion Price, not sure.. ). But, this sudden holiday, brought many smiles to those working class people, especially in the IT industry. Atleast i can see lot of people on friday, enthusiastically asking whether we get holiday on monday or not, hoping to get one. And when they heard that we dont have to come to office on monday, everyone was happy, including me. :)

It was not like any other Official Holiday (this does not have entry in Official Calendar) wherein we can plan for that extended weekend, so that even monday is included for some travel. This time, since its an unexpected leave, it was a perfect opportunity for relaxing at home. Just be at home, the whole day, relaxing, sleeping, watching tv, browsing, etc. A time to explore what all we can do, at home, simply at home. A perfect time to spend time with family members, without any other plans like shopping, hang-out... And also to enjoy the the silent roads in the day time. I dont know how often, we get to see these roads empty, without those vehicles, stacked up in the traffic signals (though we dont want to see this emptiness often).
