Few Photography tips

Posted by redthil On 3/31/2009 01:55:00 PM

> Move in Closer Each time you spot a subject, snap a shot and then move in closer for a better shot. Having your subject almost fill the frame helps your viewer understand and appreciate your photo. Also, details are often more interesting than an overall view. Keep moving in closer until you are sure the photo will successfully represent your subject.
> Be Quick If it is at all possible that your subject may move, bolt, fly away, shoot once right away. Practice getting quicker and quicker to the draw. As the motto of one of better photo old t-shirt states, "Shoot First, Ask Questions Later."
> Compose with Care Strive to lead the eye along an interesting path through the photo, with the use of strong lines or patterns.
> Keep the level horizon;
> Crop out extra elements that you are not interested in (more on this is the next tip);
> Consciously place your subject where you think it most belongs rather than just accepting it wherever it happens to land in the photo;
> Play with perspective so that all lines show a pattern or lead the eye to your main subject;
> Work with the Rule of Thirds.
> Be Selective Discern what you are really interested in and center your efforts on getting the best photo of the particular subject. Whether it’s still life, your funny cat, a mood, a place or culture. Then be sure to keep anything that would distract out of the picture. Go as far required to remove unwanted elements. The easiest way is to watch your borders when you look through the viewfinder.
> Focus On Your Subject Practice shooting with different apertures and monitor the results afterwards to learn how depth-of-field affects your photo. You will find that a smaller depth-of-field (and smaller f-stop #) focuses all the attention upon your subject. This is great for taking a picture of your child, your dog, or your husband - subjects stand out against a blurry background. Likewise, you will find that a greater depth-of-field (bigger f-stop number) will make everything from here to eternity appear in focus. This will help make those landscapes fascinating and lovely.
> Experiment in Time Use a slow shutter speed and a tripod to make a pretty picture of any creek or stream. On the other hand, you can use a fast shutter speed (1/500 and up) to capture an object in motion.
> Look at the Light It is good to see what kind of light you are working with. Which way are the shadows falling? Unless you want a silhouette effect, where your subject is black against an interesting background, it's generally best to shoot with the sun behind you.
> Watch the Weather If it's overcast, simply keep the sky out of your pictures as much as possible. This is usually the best way to avoid both muted tones in your subject and washed-out skies in your background. You might also find black and white pictures of an overcast day more pleasing than color.
> Keep it Simple Instead of relying on a fully automatic program, pick a simple, semi-automatic program such as aperture-priority and master shooting in that mode.
> Be Bold Don't allow yourself to be paralyzed by fears of using the wrong settings or anon-politically-correct social policy. With wildlife, adopt a low-impact method when you go places where few photographers have gone before.
> Get down at their Level Hold your camera at the subject’s eye level to capture the power of those magnetic gazes, and mesmerizing Smiles.
> Use a plain background Before taking a picture, check the area behind your subject. A cluttered background will be distracting while, a plain background will emphasize your Subject.
> Use flash outdoors Even outdoors, use the fill flash settings on the camera to improve your pictures.
> Take some Vertical Pictures Many subjects look better in a vertical frame. Make conscious effort to turn your Camera sideways and take some vertical pictures.
> Lock the Focus Lock the focus to create a sharp picture for off –centred subjects.
> Move it From the Middle Bring your Picture to Life simply by placing your Subject off –centre.
> Night photography When that big light in the sky goes down at dusk, photographers have to rely on other light sources to obtain their images. This is the world of slow shutter speeds, artificial light and a different way of seeing things.
> Winter photography Two things to keep in mind as you venture out into the chill are temperature and light.
> Composition A composition that conveys a photographer's intended meaning is an effective one. One that doesn't or that confuses the viewer is not.
> Flash There is probably no type of photography that is more disappointing to the beginner than flash photography.
> The darkroom The ideal darkroom is pitch black, but total darkness is sometimes difficult to achieve in the home, especially if you have commandeered a room that also serves other purposes.

Techie kills newborn that wife refused to abort

Chennai, March 13: A software engineer has been charged with killing his four-day-old daughter by throwing her into a well because his wife had refused to abort the child.

“The baby is sleeping inside the well.” - this was his reply, when asked about the baby, just 4 days old. STUPID, CRUDE, BRUTAL, SENSELESS, CRUEL, WICKED...... Have no words to describe or mention this RUTHLESS act.

Take one ball, in split second, show two... Free dove from hat... Take out meters of cloth from mouth... Cut woman into pieces in box, and rejoin the body parts... Throw knifes just cms away from the beauty's body... Disappear from one cage to the other... Make a tank, even the Statue of Liberty, disappear right in-front of your eyes... They are just, Illusions, can be explained theoretically.

A child was crying when it was there with its relative. Stopped crying immediately when it went to, its Mom. This is what i call as, Magic, can be felt only!!!

History Heroes!!!!

Posted by redthil On 3/09/2009 10:54:00 PM

Heroes!!!!! how do you define this word? as soon as we hear that word, we always tend to think of the Reel Life Heroes on Screen. Even the definition of those imaginative persons got changed over years. Once upon a time, among a group of 10 guys, the one guy who doesnt drink is called as Hero, now, the one who drinks more is said to be Hero!!! by no way i'm in offense of any habit, each have their own choice and desire. just wanted to highlight the fact that, definitions change as time changes.

And when time changes, its called as History. And i always believe that "History is written by Winners Only". So, its always the winning side, are considered to be the Heroes. Whereas those on the other side, are portrayed in otherways. And here are the two persons, whom History has defined as "Anti-Heroes", but whom i like most and consider them as a real Heroes. Those Names are, strangely, Adolf Hitler and Subash Chandra Bose.

I've seen/heard/learnt about these two in lot of programs in television channels. All those programs portrays them as the counter-part for the goodness. I'm no way saying or arguing that what they did is right. All i wonder about them, and to justify that they are worth giving that title, are their courage, thinking different and doing what others have thought as never can be done. You know what, there was about 42 recorded attempts to assasinate Hitler, all through his life. And i heard that there was treaty signed when India got Independence that, India will handover Subash if found alive. The above two statements are more than just enough to prove that, they deserve it. And both were very very good in giving out speeches and has the power to inspire people who hears their words. And i always look at them with awe and wonder.

Congrats to my Dearest Friend, Chandrasekar, who finally got his passport,
after long time struggle,
after all the confusions between the two state authorities,
after his application getting rejected for not once - but twice,
and even his tatkal application getting rejected because of his previous application didnt go through verification,
after several air travels between cbe and hyd,
after all those pain taking enquiries and contacting various offcials,
after all those frustrations on trying trying trying nd trying to get this thing done,
after letting go his opportunity for Onsite (dont worry, u'll get one soon).
his patience, attitude of not stepping back and good support from his parents, has made this thing done done.

Finally a big relief for all his efforts, and a big relief for all of us too, on hearing that , Finally He Got It...

Garbage Collection...

Posted by redthil On 3/06/2009 11:51:00 PM

If you're a techie, first thing that comes to mind is, coding/programming/call-it-whatever-you-want. But i'm not such an expert to talk about Garbage Collection in techie way. This is about the most talked issue, which affects our unique planet (atleast till a copy is found). Nothing other than Global Warming. Polluting our beautiful atmosphere. But the Garbage which i refer here is, CO2. Now you got it.

Why to pollute air and then purify it? why not prevention, better than cure always? Yes it is. But how far thats possible in our present lifestyle. Yeh, there are ways, use Fossil Fuels, use Hybrid Vehicles, etc etc. But as per the current scenario, its very tough to even be ready for such a drastic change. So, as of now, we dont have much options than looking for options for curing.

Here lets see some ways of Collecting the Garbage, which will make our life miserable, in very near future. Every damn vehicle or industry or home-appliances and most importantly billions and billions of people, add more & more amount of CO2 to the atmosphere. so, as the population increases, pollution of atmosphere with CO2 also increases. The first can't be stopped, so have to deal with the second only.

How to deal with collecting CO2? But first, What does collecting CO2 mean? The answer is simple, Just exract/remove CO2 from Air, dump it somewhere. Its easily said than done. we need to find a feasible, cost-effective & efficient way to extract. Its not at all a new Idea. Probably i'm some millionth person to think on way of extracting CO2 and stop accumulation of CO2 in air. Few of such experiments from Global Research Technologies, even using Rocks and lot more (you have the whole world wide web infront you)

What to do with the extracted/collected CO2? where to dump it? You remember "Pancha Bootham" (Five Primary Elements). Ofcourse you cannot consider Air, and we cant burn this thing down, which again has to be extracted. Left with three elements, which are potential options. Whatever the method of collection, it will end up in blocks & blocks of boxes of CO2. Bury those blocks in a Deep Hole underground, dump the blocks deep under the oceans (ocean beds) or rocket it out of our reach. Whatever it may be, we need to make sure that, we don't come across those garbage's again, at any point of existence of mankind. And again, this is not a new topic at all. I might be some thousandth person to think about it. And there are lot of successful experiments like torpedo'ing CO2 wastes deep under the oceans, has already been conducted and lot more planned to be executed.

So, if all topics are already under research, wondering whats that i'm trying convey in this post? Nothing but aiming to create Awareness, atleast among those very few who visits here. Whatever curing methods we discuss, we can still make pretty big difference in practising the ways of preventing that. We just have to think and execute it. Hopefully, we'll provide a better environment for our successors.

Balloons Balloons!!!!!!!

Posted by redthil On 3/06/2009 09:12:00 AM

First & Foremost, Happy B'Day Pradeep!!!!!! And thanks for the wonderful treat @ incHara. and apologies for forgetting to take my mobile phone, hence couldnt take any pics yesterday. :(

Let me come to the topic now. Balloons!!! this stuff keeps me joyous always, whenever i have a glance at them. Even a tiny one makes a HUGE smile in my face. and imagine, if there are plenty, i mean Plenty, of BIG balloons in cubicle. Wow!!!!!!! that too, of your fav colour, ReD. Ya.. this was the theme for decorating Pradeep's Cubicle, on his B'day. Full of Balloons, red ones, big ones, always luks like its about to fall on you... So, me and Venkata (special thanks to him) initially started with small balloons, which does not look nice at all. We went for Balloon Shopping in nearby store, and got BIG ReD Balloons. Though Venkata got a Hand-Balloon-Blowing-Pump, I didnt want to use that to blow up these Balloons, as i luv blowing it myself. Since Venkata didnt have his dinner, he went for having dinner after this lil Balloon shopping. In the meanwhile, just blew around 30 balloons, in about 40 mins (my personal record. Don't remember the previous record though :) ). Then it tuk little while for we two decorating Pradeep's Cubicle, with blasting up around 10 balloons in the process. The security in my floor had tough time standing-up and sitting-down, everytime a balloon blasts. so, All went well, and its done done from our side.

It was yesterday, Pradeep's B'Day. So, at the End of the Day, we need to cleanup his place, remove all those Balloons. so, thought of conducting BBC (Balloon Bursting Ceremony) in the evening, when most of the ppl are left. At around 8pm, I informed the security person that we're goin to burst balloons, so bear with us of the little noise. :) came back to Pradeep's Cubicle, looked at those Balloons which i blew 20hrs earlier. "i have to burst them all!!!!!!!". Felt hard on thinking like that. "i'm not goin to do that... never ever...". moved all those Balloons to my place, just adjacent to Pradeep's place. :) So, Here is how my place looks now (atleast for somedays)
